The counselors at SIS are committed to working with students, families, and teachers providing supportive services with a holistic approach. We are advocates for students. We believe every student can have a successful and productive experience at school which will continue past their educational lives and prepare them to be mindful, caring, and productive contributors to the world around them.
With support from our parents, teachers, and students we are able to provide pro-active and caring services to the school. Middle School Support
Middle school is a time of considerable transition for students. They experience academic, social, and physical changes. Seoul International School assists in these transitions by providing a trained and qualified middle school counselor. The counselor has the unique role within the school system, helping them reach their full potential as learners and as individuals, by supporting their academic and social/emotional needs. By building relationships with all students, the middle school counselor is able to best meet these needs.
In addition to providing academic support for students, the counselor can assist in promoting healthy living habits and positive interactions with peers. This is accomplished through individual, small group and classroom work and through the Advisory program. The counselor can also assist students with challenges at home, conflict resolution, bullying/harassment issues, organization/time management, managing stress/anger, loss/grief and transitioning to a new school, grade or level.
Middle School Academic Support
SIS offers academic support for middle school students through an after-school tutoring program. Students can request a student or a teacher as the tutor. There is significant flexibility in the days, times, and duration of sessions so that students can feel free to design a program that works best for their needs. There is an hourly fee that is paid for in 8 hour blocks and the fee varies between teacher and student tutors. For more information about requesting this service, please contact the middle school secretary.
